Yoga and Meditation gave me tools to help me with day to day stresses. Changing your mind-set takes you to the next level of happiness. In 2019 I worked with a Mind-Set Coach, transforming the way I think and feel about myself. As a result I’ve learned to thrive not just survive. I love creating positive connections with people.Â
Led by Samantha, who runs Simply Love Yoga in the UK, this late Summer 2024 Retreat offers you the chance to enrich your body and mind through the traditional arts of Qiqong Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Pranayama and Meditation all in the stunning surroundings of Mariola Secreta.
A bit about Samantha – In 2011, my family and I moved to Sumatra, Indonesia. Until then my exercise of choice was running, but running in such a hot climate did not work for me, so as an alternative exercise my friends introduced me to Ashtanga and Flow Yoga. Like many people I was drawn to Yoga for the physical aspect but it was the benefits to my emotional and mental wellbeing where I found greater reward. This was the start of my love affair with Yoga.Â
During the Retreat there will be three group sessions each day:
This is your yoga retreat and you are free to participate in as much or as little as you like. We invite to do what feels right for you. Mariola Secreta has lots of perfect spaces to chill and relax, curl up with a good book or get back to nature walk in the park.
Seasonal Yoga and why is it important to live in-tune with the seasons?
Many ancient traditions agree that deepening our connection with nature and being in rhythm with the seasons can improve our overall health and well-being. When we live in harmony with the season, we can prevent illness before it begins, and it can help us to feel good at any time of year. Seasonal Yoga is a dynamic flow-based practice using the breath to balance our mind, body and emotions with the changing energy of the seasons. As in nature, our bodies have their own innate intelligence and mechanisms for internal balancing. In the teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), each major organ resonates with a particular seasonal energy.
By practicing postures, movements and meridian stretches, we can influence our vital energy and/or emotional state. In Late Sumer the organs are the Stomach, Spleen and Pancreas, and the qigong and yoga sequence we will practice is designed to support these organs and balance the flow of Qi to support the body.
What is Qigong?
Qigong was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.
How does Qigong work?
The intention of Qigong is to regulate the flow of Qi through our meridian system as it flows from nature, through us and back into nature. Sometimes this can be out of balance either through excess or deficiency and Qigong helps us to bring this back into balance. When our Qi is in-balance, it supports out vital organs so that can function at their optimum. Some of the most common causes of Qi in-balance are tension and stress, medication, jetlag, illness, injury, shift-working, insomnia.
How does Qigong help us to feel nourished?
Qigong allows us to feel more connected to our body when we feel disconnected or disassociated. It promotes balance of excessive heat or deficient cool. It helps root and ground our energy when we feel anxiety, lack of safety, stress, anger or rage. It can help emotions such as grief and depression by strengthening the optimal functions of our lungs that hold grief or our heart that holds depression. It can also regulates sleep by discharging excess energy and overthinking.
What are the benefits of Qigong?
Qigong has a wide range of benefits including: enabling you to feel more rooted, grounded and relaxed, Improving blood circulation without taxing the lungs., reducing inflammation and boosting immunity, building & strength – bending without breaking, giving you the capacity for steadier, deeper, nourishing breath through slow intention-based movement and deep breathing , improving posture.
